The On-Tap Water Filter for your family!
There's a pretty wide variety of on-tap water filters available. There are several different
brands but they all have one thing in common: they attach to your faucet. These are called point-of-use
filters and are the least expensive on the market. A seperate "on counter" water filter system will cost
more, and a whole-house system is much more expensive than both.
The on-tap faucet mount filters use a replaceable filter cartridge, so it's easy and economical
to replace the filter when needed.
Search around the web and you'll see that there's all sorts of comparisons and tests available online, and a lot
of them contradict each other! So how are we to decide which brand and model to purchase?
I focus primarily on what I believe is the most cost-effective method today: the on-tap, faucet mount water
filter. I've used an on-tap water filter for a couple years now and find it inexpensive, and the odor from my
city water is gone! I think the water tastes better, as well.
I've included information about how three popular types of filters work: Activated Carbon (the most common on faucet filters), Particle and Resin water filters. Often, a
combination of two or more of these filtration systems will be used for the more complex whole-house
systems.
